I, Lucas Howard, operate Ever After, a social movie tracking mobile application (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, and protect information when you use the Service.

By using Ever After, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information I Collect

I collect the following information when you use Ever After:

Account & Profile Information

• Username
• Display name
• Profile photo (if you upload one)
• Password (securely hashed)
• Phone number (during onboarding for account verification via SMS)
• Date of birth (during onboarding for age verification to confirm you are 13 or older)

User Content & Activity

• Movies added to watchlist or marked as watched
• Ratings, reviews, comments
• Direct messages

Contacts

• Access to your device’s contacts list (only if you grant permission during onboarding, to help you find and connect with friends already using Ever After)

Device Information

• Device push notification token (only if you enable push notifications)

I do not collect email addresses, precise location, advertising identifiers, or any other personal information beyond what’s listed above.

2. How I Use Your Information

I use the information solely to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Display your public profile and activity (e.g., reviews, ratings, watchlist)
• Enable social features like comments, messages, and follows
• Send push notifications (only if you enable them)
• Verify your account and prevent unauthorized access (phone number)
• Confirm eligibility based on age requirements (date of birth)
• Help you discover and connect with friends on the platform (contacts, only if you choose to grant access)
• Enforce the Terms of Service
• Improve and maintain the Service

I do not sell your personal information. I do not use it for advertising, marketing, or analytics purposes.

3. Public Information

The following is publicly visible by default to other users:

• Username
• Display name
• Profile photo
• Reviews and ratings
• Watchlist and watched movies/activity

Direct messages are private and visible only to the participants.

4. Sharing & Third Parties

I share your phone number with Twilio (a third-party service provider) solely to send verification SMS messages during onboarding. Twilio processes this data as a service provider and does not use it for its own purposes.

I do not share your date of birth, contacts, or any other personal information with third parties except as required by law or to protect the Service.

Ever After uses movie metadata (titles, descriptions, posters, etc.) from The Movie Database (TMDb) API. TMDb does not receive any personal information about you from me.

5. Content Moderation

I may review, remove, or restrict content that violates the Terms of Service. I may suspend or terminate accounts for abusive or unlawful behavior.

6. Data Storage & Security

Passwords are securely hashed using industry-standard methods. The Service uses secure connections (HTTPS) where applicable. I take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

I keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active.

If you delete your account, I will permanently delete your personal data within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days), except for data I must keep to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements. Some data may remain temporarily in system backups.

8. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. Deleting your account removes:

• Your profile
• Your reviews, ratings, and watch activity
• Your messages

9. Children’s Privacy

Ever After is intended for users 13 years and older. Date of birth is collected solely to verify age and prevent access by users under 13. If I become aware that a user is under 13, I will delete their account and associated data.

10. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy. If I make material changes, I will update the “Last Updated” date and provide notice in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
